This piece was made using a crochet-like looping method. I used 26 gauge wire. This piece took me about two months to complete. The top has a rim made from the wire loops being rolled over itself, then secured in as the looping continued. On the sides of this piece, I switched back and forth the direction of the looping so the texture changes a few times. To finish the bottom of this piece, I had to reduce the number of loops I was using to make it flat. Reducing the stitches created the longer strand pattern on the base, creating an almost butterfly wing-like pattern.
The dimensions are:
4.5 to 5 inches tall 10 inches wide, from the two farthest points across.
I sent this in the mail to one of my favorite shows online, Table Talk on SourceFedNERD. They put out a request for people to send in bowls for the show since Joe broke one, saying that maybe they'd break one each month. I'm going to be super excited if my wire bowl makes it onto their show.
